Get to know Madeline…

Madeline Elia is a licensed clinical social worker who works with adolescents, young adults, and adults across the lifespan. She provides highly customized, holistic mental health support to individuals in California and Florida via telehealth.

Madeline received her BA in psychology from University of Rochester in New York and completed her Master’s in Social Work at University of Southern California.

While in her graduate program, she worked as a mental health counselor at Ventura College, providing one-on-one therapy to students onsite. Madeline continued her pre-licensure training as a therapist at Ventura County Behavioral Health, where she collaborated with psychiatrists and case managers to support young adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Most recently, Madeline worked at the UCLA Simms/Mann Center for Integrative Oncology, offering individual and group support to patients and families touched by cancer. While there, Madeline developed and facilitated support groups for women in survivorship, co-facilitated workshops and educational courses for patients, and collaborated with palliative and oncological teams.

Madeline is passionate about providing culturally competent, strengths-based care to every person who enters her practice. To learn more about her approach, qualifications, and specialities, see below.

My Approach

I believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every person and do not utilize therapy as a way to “fix” people. The therapeutic space is meant to be collaborative, and it is my job to create a safe space so you can show up honestly and authentically! We work together to identify not just your problems, but your strengths and goals as well. I work through a feminist and anti-oppressive lens, which takes into account the ways in which the systems we live in impact us on a community, family, and individual level.

Some of the modalities I use include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as mindfulness and somatic-based strategies to help patients enhance their mind-body connection. I welcome the exploration of spirituality into my sessions as well, and work with people of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds.
